I am looking at the album cover of Sia – This is Acting (Deluxe Version).

It is an image of Sia with multi coloured paint on her cheeks, perhaps falling as tears from her eyes. The cover appears when my playlist hits ‘Unstoppable’. The image, and the song are now strongly linked for me. A link that resembles strength and hope at times when motivation and drive can be lacking. It is a goto on my main playlist and sets up my day should I need it too.

Interestingly, I am not a big Sia fan, but I love the feeling that her voice, imagery and motivation leads me toward.

Looking down on this from a position of being a coach – I have formed a link between an image / song and how I feel. This is something that we all have done at some point in our lives.

There could be music that played at different events (weddings, funerals, baptisms etc) that conjoured up significant emotion. Frank Sinatras “My Way”, Robbie Williams “Angels” are frequent funeral songs whereas other ‘tunes’ such as Queens “Don’t Stop Me Know” or Pharrel Williams “Happy” might encourage a growing inner glow.

What works for me depends on my mood and what I am trying to ‘do’.

I find Pachabel Canon in D Minor awesome for thinking – I have a playlist of lots of different variations for deep thinking and writing. The continuous beat forms a progressive thinking pattern – but that is for me.
